Welcome to the Mid-Canterbury Four Wheel Drive Club Inc.
We are located in Ashburton, a growing town situated in the heartland of the Canterbury Plains, New Zealand.
Established in 1978
Our club is a very friendly and family orientated club that caters for all abilities of 4x4 driving, from complete novices, to the most experienced.
The various array of trips that we offer are suitable for everyone, we just adapt and adjust the trips accordingly.
Day trips are short trips that usually take place in the vicinity of Ashburton and the surrounding areas, These can include, River crossings and are a mix of shiny and extreme gradings of truck type. Depending on the interest from club members.
Overnight or weekend trips are longer trips that are thoroughly organised including accommodation requirements, food and trip itinerary. These trips allow for people to do the whole trip or part of by choosing how long they can commit to and what days suit. These often have small day trips incorporated in, so people can experience a day trip further away from the local areas.
Club Championships is also a major part of the club, members compete in an event where points are awarded and these happen several times throughout the season. It caters for all abilities and you can compete in as little or as many stages as you want. It builds your skills and you can learn from other competitors. Also it's designed so you can have fun while improving your 4x4 driving.
The club also has an affiliation with other clubs thoroughout New Zealand and we join together for inter-club events. We have also hosted the NZFWDA National 4x4 Trials twice, once in Nelson and once here in Ashburton.
We are also a very social club, organising other events during the year is a highlight of belonging to such a diverse club. Club meetings, BBQ's and an end of year Christmas party are just a few.
Meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month at the club rooms in the Tinwald Domain at 8pm.
